Why You'll Love this Recipe
- The perfect crunch. Roasting broccoli is the best way to get that desired crispy exterior.
- Simple side dish. Toss and roast and you're done!
- Versatile side dish. Dress it up by adding your favorite spices and toppings.
Ingredients
- Broccoli florets. I cut a head of broccoli for this recipe but you can use frozen broccoli, just be sure to fully defrost the florets.
- Garlic powder. Add savory, slightly sweet, and pungent garlic flavor to the broccoli without having to peel fresh garlic.
- Olive oil. Olive oil helps the broccoli roast evenly and achieve a crispy, golden-brown texture.
See the recipe card below for the remaining ingredients and quantities.
Substitutions & Variations
- Sprinkle parmesan. Add a bit of parmesan cheese. Add after roasting for a rich salty flavor or before to get a parmesan crust.
- Add some heat. Sprinkle on some red chili flakes for some added spice.
- Add bacon. Crispy bacon enhances anything it's added to.
- Add dressing. Pair your roasted broccoli with a side of dressing for any picky eaters.
Air Fryer Roasted Broccoli
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F. Toss the broccoli florets with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated. Place the broccoli in a single layer in the air fryer. Do not overcrowd to ensure even cooking. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Broccoli should be golden brown and crispy on the edges.
Instructions
- Step 1: Turn the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper while it preheats. Line the broccoli florets on the baking sheet in a single layer, then sprinkle with olive oil, garlic powder, salt and black pepper.
- Step 2: Bake for 20-25 minutes until soft and golden brown. Serve and enjoy!
Sarah's Top Tips
- Eat fresh from the oven. You can do the prep work for this recipe ahead of time but I recommend eating right from the oven.
- Cut in bite-size even pieces. Cut your broccoli into uniform bite-sized pieces to ensure an even cook.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan. Be sure to spread your florets out to promote the desired crispy exterior.
- Proper roasting times. 350°F for 30-35 minutes, 375°F for 25-30 minutes, 400°F for 18-22 minutes, 425°F for 14-18 minutes.
Serving
Roasted broccoli goes with any meal, any time of year which makes it a perfect last-minute addition to your table. Mix it into chicken alfredo with linguine!
If you're not a fan of broccoli alone you can also try a roasted vegetable medley, honey roasted carrots, or sweet & salty brussels sprouts.
Storage & Reheating
Store leftover broccoli in an airtight container for 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven for about 10 minutes or in the microwave for 1 minute.
I don't recommend freezing roasted broccoli but instead using frozen broccoli for this and other recipes.
