Key Ingredients

- Frozen French fries. This air fryer recipe is made with frozen fries. I have not tested this recipe using homemade fries.
- Olive oil. The oil is used to help stick the spices to the fries. If you don't have olive oil, you can use another neutral oil like vegetable or avocado oil.
- Spices. If you've made my Argentine Red Shrimp with Cajun Butter Sauce, you've already got all the spices you need in your pantry. Smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, cayenne, and onion powder make the best French fry seasoning.

Sarah's Tips
- Don’t overcrowd the basket—cook fries in a single layer for max crisp.
- Adjust cook time based on fry type. Thicker fries need more time.
- Shake the basket halfway through for even cooking.
- If you have leftover fries, reheat them at 400 degrees F in the air fryer or oven for a couple of minutes until hot again.
- Store in an airtight container for a few days.

Instructions

Step 1
Place the frozen fries in a large mixing bowl and add salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cayenne and a drizzle of olive oil or cooking spray. Toss to coat.

Step 2
Air fry for 15-20 minutes at 400 degrees F, or until they are hot and crispy. Shake or flip the fries halfway through to ensure they cook through evenly. Sprinkle the air fryer french fries with flakey sea salt and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
Sarah's Top Tips
- Avoid overfilling the air fryer basket. To get perfectly crispy fries, the air fryer needs space to allow the air to circulate. If the basket is too full, the fries will steam instead of crisp. For best results, cook them in a single layer—even if that means working in batches.
- Adjust the cook time for different fry types. This method works for all kinds of frozen fries, but the cook time will vary based on thickness. Shoestring-style fries cook quickly, while waffle fries, potato wedges, and steak fries will likely need additional time.
- Give the fries a good shake halfway through to ensure they cook evenly on all sides.

Serving Suggestions
These fries go well with just about anything — try them with Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets, turkey smash burgers, or these crispy and spicy hot honey chicken sandwiches for a sweet-and-savory combo.
Ketchup is a classic with french fries, but it's not the only option! Try ranch, fry sauce, BBQ sauce, mustard, homemade spicy mayonnaise, or cheese sauce.
Storage & Reheating
If you have leftover shoestring fries, using the air fryer to reheat them is the best way to make them crispy again. Reheat them at 400 degrees F for a couple of minutes until hot again. Store in an airtight container for a few days.
